Organization and Purpose
The National Board of Certified Medical Devices Representatives (NBCMDR) was established in 2023 as a direct result of the work from the National Association of Medical Device Representatives and the need for National Certification. NBCMDR is the certifying agency for Medical Device Representatives. NBCMDR is solely responsible for all decisions regarding certification; from determining eligibility to maintaining, denying, granting and renewing the designation.
The purpose of NBCMDR is to determine, through examination, if an individual has acquired both theoretical and practical knowledge of the requirements to be a Certified Medical Device Representative (C-MDR™). Medical Device Representatives (MDR®) play a significant role in education, logistics and setup for surgical cases. PATIENTS BEFORE PROFITS™ is an essential message in the process with a focus on READY FOR SURGERY™. The Certification process starts with the Voluntary acceptance of the PATIENTS BEFORE PROFITS™ pledge. As MDR’s can work direct for Medical Device Companies or themselves it is most important that the priority is Patient Safety. C-MDR's™ are required to stay up to date with the changes in the medical field.
